Glyndon, Md. – Sagamore Racing proudly announced today it was recognized by the Farm Stewardship Certification and Assessment Program (FSCAP) for its soil and water conservation practices. Sagamore Farm is the 43rd certified agricultural conservation steward in Maryland and the 2nd in Baltimore County.

The FSCAP is administered by the Maryland Association of Soil Conservation Districts (MASCD) to acknowledge farms in Maryland that are good stewards of their natural resources and to encourage farms to implement more conservation best management practices. When a farm applies for certification, FSCAP reviews the farm’s existing nutrient management plans, soil conservation and water quality plans, and other documents to determine if the farm meets the standards. The assessor then walks the farm to evaluate whether these plans have prevented any significant sources of pollution from leaving the farm. The MASCD’s mission through this certification program is to promote practical and effective soil, water and related natural resources programs to all citizens on a voluntary basis through education and local direction.

“The team at Sagamore Racing is very proud of our efforts to positively impact our environment,” said Tom Mullikin, General Manager of Sagamore Racing. “We are honored to be recognized by the MASCD for our practices at the farm that will overall reduce pollution and better our community.”
