Weighing 95 pounds and 38.5 inches tall, a new colt came to Sagamore Farm very early Wednesday morning at 2:40am! He is by Paynter out of Polyester, by Tiz Wonderful, and both mom and baby are doing very well. This is Polyester’s second foal, her first a yearling colt by Quality Road and the broodmare team reports that she is a great mom.

The sire Paynter has an incredible history. In 2012, he won the Haskell Invitational Stakes and was runner-up by a neck in the Belmont Stakes. Not only is he a Grade-1 winner, but he also captivated the industry with his resiliency when he became very sick. He miraculously recovered and even made return to the winner’s circle in his first race back after his illness.

Paynter has now bred to hundreds of mares at WinStar Farm in Kentucky, and 2016 brings the first yearlings. We are very excited to see what this little colt has in store for his future at Sagamore Farm!
